Plein Air

Beginning | 2026

As I step into this journey with both feet, beginning a more focused and intentional study of plein air painting, I'm sharing a collection of works created out in the field over the years. These early paintings reflect a long-standing curiosity to step outside the studio and paint directly from life.

As a live wedding painter, I've spent countless hours painting on location through changing light and unpredictable conditions. That experience inspired me to deepen my understanding of the plein air tradition, and I'm honored to begin this next chapter as a member of the Minnesota Outdoor Painters.

Through studying light, color, and atmosphere, I've come to realize that color is what speaks to me most. It's the vibrancy and harmony within a painting that bring it to life and draw me in. My hope is to paint not only what I see, but also the feeling, harmony, and quiet energy of a place.

This collection marks the beginning of an evolving practice, and I look forward to sharing where the landscape leads me.

I invite you to follow along as I begin this next chapter of study and exploration. Read more about my plein air journey and the importance of continuing to grow as an artist in my latest blog post, Choosing Growth: Returning to the Student Within.
